Early life: from Connecticut to the World Cup
Clix grew up in Watertown, a small town in Connecticut. His career started with a deal with his dad. His father bought him a gaming PC, and Clix agreed to pay it back by working for the family’s plumbing business. Fortune reported that he covered the cost with Fortnite winnings in about two weeks. Reports differ on the price of that first PC, from about $1,000 to about $1,600.
That PC changed everything. In 2019, at 14, he qualified for the first Fortnite World Cup. He finished 18th in the solo finals, worth $112,500, and also played the duo finals, worth another $50,000, according to Esports Earnings. Soon after, he dropped out of school in eighth grade to compete and stream full-time.
Teams and competitive career
Clix has played for three major organizations: Misfits Gaming (2019–2020), NRG Esports (2020–2023) and XSET (since October 2023). He is also a co-owner at XSET.
